Baba Baidyanath Temple
Shrine of one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the Baba Baidyanath temple houses twenty-one other temples of different Gods and Goddesses. It is said that Ravana worshipped Lord Shiva and offered his ten heads as the sacrifice; impressed with which, Lord Shiva came to cure him as a ‘Vaidya’—doctor. That is how the temple derives its name ‘Baidyanath’. The temple is also one of the Shakti peeths, with the two temples — of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva — linked together to show the sacred bond of Shiva and Shakti. In the month of Shravan (August), the devotees bring sacred water from the Ganges to wash the Jyotirlinga with.
Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith
Located in the heart of Deoghar, and established in 1922, Ram-Krishna Mission Vidyapeeth is the oldest educational institution of the Ram-Krishna Mission. It is now a senior secondary school for boys and used to be visited by the brother disciples of Swami Vivekananda. Monks and Brahmacharins run the institution, which includes teachers from all over India, along with those from foreign countries. There are a greenhouse and a small medicinal orchard aside from an established museum showing the ancient and tribal heritage of India. The most attractive feature is the temple of Shri Ram Krishna where religious festivals are carried out.
Located about 2km away from the Baba Baidyanath Temple, the Noulakha temple is a shrine of the idols of Radha and Krishna; also a major Hindu pilgrimage centre. A calm and peaceful temple, it stretches to about 146ft in height. Built in 1948, the Noulakha temple was the creation of a saint known as Shree Balananda Brahmachari. A queen of the Pathuria Ghat royal family, Rani Charushila, is said to have donated the money for this temple to be built. It is believed that she had lost her son and husband, which led to her approaching the saint in her sorrowful state. He then advised her to have said temple constructed. It is about 8km away from Tapovan— another area that consists of a number of caves, where the saint Balananda used to meditate.
The Ropeway at Trikut Hills (Trikut Pahar )at Deoghar is the only such service in Jharkhand. It is also known as Gagan Khatola. It takes passengers from the base of Trikut Pahar to the top of Highest Peak and back. It takes around 10 minutes for one Car to reach the Cliff.The Ropeway can carry 4 People in a Single Car (or Cabin) and about 25 Cars are in operation at present. The To and Fro fare of the Ropeway Ride is Rs 50 per person, provided the passenger returns back within 2 hours. If delayed, he/she is required to pay Rs 50 for the return trip.It was constructed by RITES and Calcutta-based construction firm, Damodar Ropeway Construction Company and launched in 2009. Constructed at an angle of 44 degrees, the total length of the rope on which cabins were fixed is about 766m (2,512 feet). The climbs are about 392m (1,282 feet) from the ground to the top.

Harila Jori is situated on the northern side of Deoghar, 8 km away from Baidyanath temple and 5 km away from Tower Chowk. During ancient times, the area was full of Haritaki (Myrobalan) trees. This was the place where Ravana handed over the lingam to Lord Visnu disguised as a Brahmin and went for urination. A stream flows here and is known as Ravana Jori.Legends say that both Shiva and Vishnu met here. Hence the name, Harila – Jori.The Shiva temple was constructed by Achintan Das. There is also a tank at this place which is famous as Shool Harini tank. It is a famous tourist place.
Shivganga is a Sacred Pond located 200m from the Baba Baidyanath Temple at Deoghar Jharkhand. Devotees take water from Shivaganga to offer to Lord Shiva at the Baidyanath Temple. There is a huge Idol of Lord Shiva on one end of Shiva Ganga. Historically, the Pond has never dried up.According to Ancient Scriptures, when Ravana was taking the Shivalingam to his country, Lanka, he felt the urge for urination. He handed over the lingam to a Brahmin and went for urination. After urination, he needed to wash his hands and be purified before holding the lingam. When he did not find any water source nearby, he made a blow with his fist on the earth and water came out and formed a pond. This pond is now known as Shivaganga.It has been revamped by the Landlord of Lakshmipur and a temple was built by Raja Jai Singh.

Nav Durga Mandir is a temple dedicated to Nine Avatars of Goddess Durga at Dev Sangha Ashram located at Bompas Town Deoghar. The reigning deity of Nav Durga Mandir is Goddess Hemavati. The temple has a beautiful Sanctorum with idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Annapurna Brahmarshi Satyadev among many others. Tapovan Hills is located 10km from the Deoghar Town. It is mainly famous for Tapo Nath Mahadev, the temple of Lord Shiva. It is named Tapovan because in the olden days it was a meditation spot (Tapobhumi) for the Nagas.It is said that Sage Valmiki came here for penance. Sri Balananda Brahmachari obtained Siddhi (success through penance) here. Sri Mohanananda Brahmachari, the disciple of Sri Balananda Brahmachari also used to come here.There is a cracked rock at Tapovan. In the inner surface of the crack, one can see a portrait of Hanuman. This is an amazing feat as it is practically impossible to insert a paint brush in the crack and draw anything.Below the hill, there is a small cemented Kund (water – body) which is called Sukta Kunda (Sita Kunda) by the local people. It is a holy water body. It is said that Sita used to take bath here.
